The PlayStation 4 was launched on 29th November 2013, 7 years after the PS3.
With Microsoft hoping that the Xbox One would become an all-in-one entertainment system, their taglines were “Jump Ahead” and “Always Connected”.
The PS4 tagline was “Greatness awaits” and “This is for the players”, targeting specifically the strong player/gamer industry.
Microsoft announced that after 18 days on sale, 2 million Xbox One’s had been sold. As of January 2016, they have sold over 19 million consoles.
In the first 5 weeks, 530,000 PS4 consoles were sold. As of January 2016, that figure stands at 35.9 million.
Popular game titles include Xbox Exclusives such as Halo 4, Gears of War, Kinect Adventures and most notably Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Sony’s game availability remains vast with a very limited supply of games not available. Games exclusive to the console are Uncharted: A Thief’s End, LittleBigPlanet, No Man’s Sky, Ratchet & Clank and Horizon Zero Dawn to name a few.

Xbox is owned by Microsoft and first went on sale in 2001. Their logo too has changed only slightly, mainly with the introduction of the sphere to the logo in 2005.
SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT
The first PlayStation console was created in 1994 by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Their logo has pretty stayed the same since its conception, depicting an upstanding P and a laid flat S with the company name underneath.
